History and Now
Craftsperson and craft teacher Ronald makes great bags at a tender age. He then founds cult purse company FURST & MOONEY in the mid 1970s in New York. Several of the handbags reside in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C. Today we continue to create dynamic, fresh and functional handbags. Shapes that are lightweight and work well and are a delight to behold.
Style & Quality
At the time I decided that most bags were fairly generic in shape, color, hardware and construction and I wanted to apply modern colors, print fabrics and soft to the touch cloth and exotic leathers. The materials are sewn together with a minimum of cardboard interlinings. I decide on proportions based off of classic shapes such as totes, fisherman bags, hobos and clutches. Sometimes a completely original shape arrives, such as our amazing foldover shoulder bag or the cross body side pocket bag.
100% Handmade
Folks entering the store or viewing online are always impressed with the originality and distinct look of our designs. When it is pointed out that each piece is built one by one on the premises they are always blown away by that. Furthermore most of the items can be ordered in a different proportion or material if we stock it that season. Call or contact us with any questions. 561-272-6422
